Humanities in Dialogue

The Max Weber Foundation is committed to strengthening its contribution to the dialogue between science and society, in the framework of Geisteswissenschaft im Dialog (GiD) (Humanities in Dialogue). The goal of this cooperation is to present the German public with current research questions and results from the Max Weber Foundation’s institutes abroad.

Launched in 1993 by the Union of the German Academies of Sciences and Humanities, the series “Humanities in Dialogue” focuses on current issues in science, culture and society. The Union of Academies, along with the Leibniz Association, has organized podium discussions since 2001, and with participation from the Max Weber Foundation since the 1st of April, 2010. Once the previous project was completed and the Leibniz Association concluded their project partnership, GiD became the responsibility of the Max Weber Foundation on April 1st, 2012. The patron is the Federal Minister for Education and Research, Professor Dr. Annette Schavan.
