Max Weber Foundation joins Base4NFDI Technical Expert Committee

The Max Weber Foundation (MWS) became a member of the Base4NFDI Technical Expert Committee (TEC) in March 2026.

Base4NFDI is establishing interdisciplinary basic services for the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) – i.e. digital building blocks that many researchers and institutions need, such as for registration and access rights, persistent identifiers or common standards. The aim is to ensure that such basic functions do not have to be redeveloped in every subject area and that services are better aligned.

The TEC evaluates proposals for NFDI-wide basic services, among other things with regard to technical quality, interoperability and the suitability of the participating partner organisations, and makes recommendations to the consortium meeting.

Through its participation, MWS contributes its expertise in humanities information and research infrastructures and ensures that perspectives from the humanities and social sciences are consistently taken into account in the development and selection of basic services.
