On the current situation at the Orient Institut Beirut

The security situation in Beirut has deteriorated further following renewed fighting between Hezbollah and Israel, as well as massive Israeli air strikes across Lebanon. The capital and the south of the country, in particular, have been repeatedly targeted; there are more than 900 dead and over 2,000 injured, as well as at least one million registered internally displaced persons.

The Max Weber Foundation is monitoring the situation at the Orient-Institut Beirut (OI Beirut) continuously and with great concern. This applies in particular to local staff, whose safety is our top priority in every aspect.
