The German Historical Institute in Rome (DHI Rome) with its music history department sees itself as a forum for international exchange and as a mediator between different academic cultures, especially the ones of Italy and Germany. Integrated into a dense network of international cooperation, DHI Rome is committed to deepen the social discourse on historical topics and upholds a cross-epochal and interdisciplinary understanding of research. Likewise, it offers a variety of formats for the promotion of young scholars. The library, which is equipped with history and music history collections, is open to all researchers.

Service

 

The library of the DHI Rome contains 245,000 media units and approximately 850 current periodicals as well as an extensive stock of old prints. In addition, there are reader-printers, a copying service, digital resources, a music room with a stereo system, a concert grand piano, a harpsichord, and a digital piano.
