The Orient-Institut Beirut (OI Beirut), a German academic research institute of the Max Weber Foundation – German Humanities Institutes Abroad seeks to employ an assistant to the LAWHA research project (f/m/d) 40%, 16.4 hours per week.
The position is to be filled from 1 October 2023. The fixed-term contract will initially be limited to six months, with the possibility to extend for 3-6 months. The place of employment is Beirut.
Duties include:
Assisting the research team of the research project LAWHA (Lebanon’s Art World at Home and Abroad, https://lawha.hypotheses.org) in preparing the Database and Digital Platform (DDP) for publication, including digitisation and organisation of archival material and data entry revolving around the trajectories of artists and their works.
Your profile includes:
- BA in art history, digitial humanities or related field;
- Very good written skills in English, Arabic and French;
- Strong interest in topics related to art history and digital humanities;
- Experience in working with art historical archives and/or digital humanities of ad-vantage;
- Enjoy working independently, coordinating and communicating in an international environment;
- Team spirit, flexibility and commitment.
